About LoanLens
LoanLens is a Canadian project with one reason to exist: borrowing money is one of the biggest financial decisions most Canadians ever make, and the math behind it is deliberately opaque. We built LoanLens to put that math in plain sight — with Canadian rules, not recycled American advice.
What we do
We build free financial calculators — mortgage (with CMHC insurance and semi-annual compounding, the way Canadian fixed rates actually work), auto loan, personal loan, debt payoff, savings, and more — and pair each one with a plain-English guide that explains what the numbers mean for your life. No jargon walls, no email gates, no "book a consultation" dead ends.
No sign-up, ever
You will never need an account, a password, or an email address to use LoanLens. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — your income, loan amounts, and other figures never leave your device. We couldn't see them if we wanted to.
Built on Canadian rules
- Mortgage math uses semi-annual compounding and CMHC default-insurance tiers
- Affordability guides use GDS/TDS ratios and the OSFI stress test
- Savings content covers GICs, HISAs, TFSAs, and RRSPs — not 401(k)s
- Credit content reflects Equifax and TransUnion Canada and the 300–900 score scale
- Rules and figures are based on official Canadian sources such as the CRA, ESDC, FCAC, CMHC, OSFI and Statistics Canada, listed on many pages
How we make money
LoanLens is supported by display advertising. Ads keep the tools free with no sign-up required. We do not sell your data, and advertisers have no influence over our calculator results or editorial content. See our Editorial Policy for details.
Important
LoanLens provides general information and estimates, not financial, tax or legal advice, and we are not a lender, broker or licensed adviser. Figures can change or contain errors, so confirm anything important with official sources or a qualified professional. See our Disclaimer and Terms of Use.
